Janhvi Kapoor recently got a little nostalgic about Sridevi while appearing on Sony Entertainment Television’s popular dance reality show ‘Super Dancer Chapter 5’.
The young actress, who is busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Param Sundari’, couldn’t help but recall one of her late mother Sridevi’s most memorable performances.

During contestant Namish’s performance, Janhvi was visibly moved. Praising the young dancer, she said, “The moment you started, you completely changed the energy in the room. A great performance is not just about steps. It’s about expression, smiles, and movement.”
That’s when memories of her mother came flooding back. Janhvi spoke about Sridevi and her “Dance of Rage” in the 1991 musical drama ‘Lamhe’, directed and produced by filmmaker Yash Chopra.
“My mother’s performance was so full of aggression and internal struggle. I always wondered how an artist could bring that to life,” Janhvi said. “Watching you perform today, live, made me connect with the same intensity. I literally got goosebumps.”
For those who may have forgotten, ‘Lamhe’ starred Sridevi in a challenging dual role alongside Anil Kapoor. The film also featured Waheeda Rehman, Anupam Kher, Deepak Malhotra, and Dippy Sagoo. Its story revolves around Viren, who falls in love with Pallavi.
Though Pallavi marries Siddharth and tragically dies, the story continues with their daughter, bearing a striking resemblance to her mother, finding love with Viren. Sridevi’s dance in ‘Lamhe’ remains one of the most iconic displays of raw emotion in Bollywood cinema.
Joining Janhvi on the show was actor Siddharth Malhotra, who shared the stage as a supportive guest. Watching Namish’s performance, Siddharth couldn’t hide his admiration. “This was an amazing performance. You are already a star, but after this, you are a Super Star for me,” he exclaimed.
