Shah Rukh Khan turned 60, and as always, his birthday celebration became a festival for fans. The superstar did not just cut a cake and wave from his balcony, he also made hearts race by speaking about something many fans had given up on: a possible sequel to ‘Ra.One’. Yes, ‘Ra.One 2’!
Back in 2011, ‘Ra.One’ arrived like a big Diwali firecracker. It was stylish, huge in scale, filled with special effects, and featured SRK as a superhero. Produced by Gauri Khan and directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film wanted to take Bollywood into a new era of science fiction.

But even though it looked grand and had powerful scenes, the film could not meet the box-office expectations many had.
During the fan interaction on his birthday, SRK spoke about how deeply he cared for the film. He explained that ‘Ra.One’ for him was a dream fueled by curiosity and courage. He wanted to do something bold, something that would inspire Indian filmmakers to push boundaries with technology.
“It was a very emotional project for me,” he said. “I hoped it would open doors for superhero films in India and make more visual-effects studios come up.” He laughed while remembering how hard the work was. “I lost nearly 8 kilos wearing that suit,” he joked.
SRK also pointed out that maybe the film came before its time. Back then, many Indian viewers were not used to gaming culture or futuristic stories. “Today, kids grow up with PlayStations, tablets, and Marvel movies,” he said. “Maybe the world is more ready for ‘Ra.One’ now.”
And then came the moment fans were waiting for.
When someone asked if a sequel could ever happen, SRK gave a mysterious smile, the kind that only he can pull off, and said, “If Anubhav wants to do it, maybe one day.” Just like that, one line opened a universe of excitement. Fans who grew up watching ‘Ra.One’ and singing “Chammak Challo” instantly began dreaming of ‘Ra.One 2’.
He praised director Anubhav Sinha, saying only he could handle such a film again. The original movie also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal and told the story of a video-game villain who comes alive in the real world.
