Bollywood loves a good whisper. And for months now, the whispers around Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been growing louder. Coffee table chats, social media comments, and industry murmurs all pointed to one big question: ‘Is everything okay between the long-married couple?’
Now, after staying quiet for a long time, Govinda has finally decided to speak.

“Staying quiet made me look weak”
In his first public reaction to the rumours, Govinda told ANI that he chose silence earlier, but that silence started working against him. According to the actor, not speaking up made people think he was either weak or at fault.
He said that when someone does not defend themselves, the public begins to create their own story. And that story, he feels, painted him in a “problematic” light. That, he explained, is why he is speaking now not to create drama, but to clear the air.
“Big conspiracy” behind the scenes?
What really raised eyebrows was Govinda’s repeated mention of a “big conspiracy.” The actor believes that something larger is at play and that even people close to him may be getting pulled into it without knowing.
He shared that he was warned about how such situations usually begin. First, the family is affected. Slowly, the impact spreads to society at large. And before one realises it, reputations are damaged.
Govinda strongly hinted that some loved ones may be unknowingly used as part of this process. According to him, this is how bigger plans often unfold.
Govinda on career break
Govinda also addressed another topic that often comes up: his long absence from films. He openly admitted that he has been disconnected from work for years. However, he made it clear that this is not something he cries over.
The actor said there is no real market for his films right now, but he also revealed that he has rejected many projects himself. He stressed that this should not be mistaken for self-pity or complaining.
Sunita’s worries and a cricket metaphor
Govinda spoke candidly about Sunita too. He shared that his wife often worries about him rejecting film offers, which is natural. However, he feels she may not realise that she herself could be getting drawn into the same “conspiracy.”
Using a striking metaphor, Govinda said Sunita has been pushed into the situation like an “opening batsman.” According to him, she may not even realise how she has been placed right at the front of it all.
The actor also spoke about the darker side of popularity. He said when someone becomes extremely popular, there are always people waiting to bring them down.
Govinda recalled how, in the past, he was accused by someone dangerous. He believes such attacks are common when an actor’s popularity crosses a certain level.
According to him, ruining someone’s image in society is often a deliberate move, not an accident.
Govinda spoke about his children and his family. He said he is praying to God to remove him from this situation and to protect his children’s well-being.
He also shared his fear of feeling “suffocated” if misunderstandings continue. The actor appealed especially to his own family to avoid confusion and miscommunication.
Govinda-Sunita Ahuja relationship
Govinda and Sunita have been married since 1987 and are parents to Tina and Yashvardhan. Tina made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with ‘Second Hand Husband’, while Yashvardhan is gearing up for his own entry into films.
