The children of Karisma Kapoor have moved the Delhi High Court requesting a share in their late father Sunjay Kapur’s enormous fortune. This is estimated to be approximately Rs 30,000 crore.

The children complain that their stepmother Priya Kapur might have tampered with the will to gain complete control over the family fortune.

Speaking for the minors, lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani depicted a picture of a mysterious and hastily made will. He pointed out that the trust deed relating to the estate was withheld from the family and raised eyebrows over the abrupt revelation of the will. This, according to him, came to light only through a family employee, Dinesh Aggarwal.

Jethmalani pointed out that the will was not registered, came as a surprise, and did not even have a word for Karisma Kapoor’s children. “The will was read hurriedly at the Taj Hotel, in circumstances requiring scrutiny,” he informed the court.

He also advised the bench to grant interim relief to the children while the case is investigated.

Supporting Priya Kapur, Rajiv Nayar contended that the children’s suit is not maintainable, objecting to claims of illegality.

Notwithstanding this, the court issued summons and fixed a time frame for the proceedings. Written statements are to be submitted within two weeks, with a replication within one week. The court also ordered the defendants to furnish a list of properties in detail. This includes all movable and immovable assets.

Karisma Kapoor’s children, through their mother as their legal guardian, are seeking various remedies. This includes a partition of the estate with full accounts of all properties and assets.

The children allege that they do not possess complete knowledge of the full nature of their father’s assets.

Though they have appended a list of properties known to them. They also claim that Priya Kapur has made a conscious effort to keep some things under wraps so that they do not know their rightful entitlement.

The plaintiffs also gave a personal insight into their association with their father. They present Sunjay Kapur as a doting and committed parent who used to travel with them quite often, celebrated milestones together, and personally included them in his business ventures.

The kids claim that their father had promised them of financial stability and a share in his business. He also supposedly initiated some business undertakings in their names and had named them as beneficiaries in the family trust.

Sunjay Kapur died on June 12, 2025, during a polo match in Windsor, UK. The death has aggravated the family feud, particularly over visitation rights to the massive estate he left behind.
