What does happiness look like for one of Bollywood’s biggest stars? For Deepika Padukone, it’s not the red carpet, the flashing cameras, or even a blockbuster film release. It’s the simple joy of baking a chocolate cake for her baby girl’s very first birthday.
On Wednesday morning, Deepika shared a glimpse of that joy on Instagram. A rich, chocolatey cake, straight from her oven, sat on the table. Her caption said it all: “My love language? Baking a cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday!”

That little daughter is Dua, the bundle of joy she and Ranveer Singh welcomed into their lives on September 8, 2024. The couple had announced the happy arrival on Instagram with the words, “Welcome baby girl 8.9.2024… Deepika and Ranveer.”
It has been a year since that moment, but for Deepika and Ranveer, who fans lovingly call “DeepVeer”, the past twelve months have been filled with love, learning, and a new kind of spotlight: parenthood.
Deepika and Ranveer’s love story is no less dramatic than the films they star in. They first met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’ back in 2013. Sparks flew instantly, and after five years of dating, the couple tied the knot in November 2018 at the dreamy Lake Como in Italy.
Their wedding, held in traditional Konkani Hindu and Sikh Anand Karaj ceremonies, was the talk of the town.
A few years later, in 2023, they finally shared unseen moments from their wedding during an episode of Koffee With Karan.
In February 2024, the couple surprised fans once more when they revealed that they were expecting their first child.
When Dua was born in September 2024, the couple called her their answered prayer. A few weeks later, on November 1, they revealed her name, Dua, which literally means “prayer.”
