Sometimes real life is more dramatic than any Bollywood script. And for actress Celina Jaitly, it has been a very emotional year. The ‘No Entry’ actor is now fighting a personal battle. This is not for fame or films but to bring her brother back home.
Her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, has been held in the United Arab Emirates for more than a year. Celina says he was taken into custody on September 6, 2024 in mysterious circumstances. Since then, she has barely been able to speak to him.

In an important order, the Delhi High Court directed the Union government to step in and ensure Major Vikrant is given strong legal representation in the UAE. The court also said the family must be kept updated about his condition and legal situation, something they say has not happened enough so far.

The judge has also asked India’s Ministry of External Affairs to appoint a nodal officer. The officer basically would be a person responsible for coordinating between the family and the authorities handling the case abroad.

Celina’s legal team argued that holding someone for so long without proper access to lawyers or regular contact with family goes against basic human rights and international rules. Major Vikrant has been living in the UAE since 2016 working in a trading and risk-management firm. But now his family says they don’t even know exactly why he is detained.
As the court put it, the first priority is to try to establish communication between Celina Jaitly and her brother. They also want the authorities abroad to allow contact between the detained officer and his wife.
A detailed status report has been ordered and must be filed before the next hearing, which is scheduled for December 4, 2025.
