Maidaan turns into a wrangling match of fiery footballers

One thing that we have learnt from historical or period films in Bollywood is that they give a massive push to an actor’s career. The latest from the Tinsel Town is that actor Ajay Devgn will essay the role of adviser, scholar and political strategist Chanakya in the forthcoming film, Chanakya, which will be directed by Neeraj Pandey.
The film will be based on the 4th century BC scholar and will feature the Raid actor in the lead role.
Confirming the announcement of the film, Ajay took to his Twitter account and shared: “Looking forward to plaing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian history, directed by @neerajpofficial. @RelanceEnt @FFW_Official @PlanC_Studios @ShitalBhatiaFFW”

From Mughal-e-Azaam to Padmaavat, numerous period films came in between and left an ever-lasting impact on the viewers. Be it the wonderful storytelling of visionaries like Ashutosh Gowarikar or Sanjay Leela Bhansali or the stellar performance of Hrithik Roshan or Ranveer Singh, historical films never fail to impress the cinegoers.
In a press statement, director of the film, Neeraj, said, “I’ve been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now. It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I’m sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genuis.”
An overwhelmed Ajay also shared his feelings on the film and said, “I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told.”
The film will be a joint collaboration between Reliance Entertainment and Plan C Studios. Neeraj Pandey (A Wednesday and Special 26 fame) is set to direct the ambitious project.
