While the film faced comparisons with ‘Sairat’, it still managed to make its own place in the hearts of Bollywood audiences, thanks to its fresh pairing, emotional moments, and a hit soundtrack that included the title track ‘Dhadak’, which became a chartbuster.

Marking the milestone, Ishaan Khatter took to Instagram to share a nostalgic post. He uploaded a montage of scenes featuring his character Madhukar, writing, “7 years! Time truly does fly. Looking back with gratitude and love.”

The film was produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta under the banners of Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.

For Janhvi Kapoor, ‘Dhadak’ was her grand Bollywood debut, introducing her to a world of cinema.

Now, seven years later, the makers are ready to continue the legacy with ‘Dhadak 2’. This time, the story will follow a different couple, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.

The sequel is directed by Shazia Iqbal and promises to explore similar themes of forbidden love and social barriers, but with a sharper focus on caste discrimination and the realities of contemporary India.

The trailer for ‘Dhadak 2’ has already come out, giving audiences a glimpse into a love story that feels intense, raw, and socially relevant. The film touches upon identity struggles, emotional conflicts, and the power dynamics that often govern personal relationships in Indian society.

‘Dhadak 2’ is ready to hit theatres on August 1, 2025.
