Acharya Balkrishna, General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth, was awarded the prestigious Doctor of Philosophy (PhD Honorary Degree) at the 23rd convocation of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Uttarakhand.
The honorary degree recognised his extraordinary contributions to society, business, and the health and wellness sector through decades of dedicated work.

During his address to the graduating students, Acharya emphasized the importance of selfless service. “Continuity in service, dedication, and active engagement in helping others are the true strengths of any individual or organization,” he said.
He highlighted how Patanjali under the guidance of Ramdev has expanded its service initiatives globally made possible through the hard work and commitment of millions of Patanjali workers. He added that such recognition motivates him to continue to serve humanity with even greater dedication.
UPES Vice Chancellor Ram Sharma lauded Acharya for his efforts and contributions. He expressed confidence that the graduating students would draw inspiration from Acharya’s journey as they step into their own careers.
“Under Acharya Ji’s leadership, the Patanjali model has become one of India’s most respected business frameworks. It blends traditional Indian values with modern business practices fostering trust and excellence. Today, even top entrepreneurs in the country look up to this model for guidance and inspiration,” Sharma said.
The ceremony also featured several dignitaries from academia and industry, who came together to celebrate the occasion.
