Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, reacting to the massive fire at a Malviya Nagar hotel that killed 21 people, noted that this was the fourth major fire incident in the Capital in the last three months. He said the incident has again exposed the government’s incompetence.
He called it shocking that the Chief Minister did not visit the accident site and instead sent one of her ministers.

The Congress leader alleged that the restaurant and the guesthouse operated in flagrant violation of rules and regulations, offering more rooms than were sanctioned.
Yadav visited the accident site along with DPCC general secretary (organization) Anil Bhardwaj, former Delhi Minister Dr. Yoganand Shastri, and other senior Delhi Congress leaders.
The Congress leader appealed to Delhi Congress workers and residents of the area to extend all possible help to the affected people.
Yadav said that it was heart-breaking that 21 people have died and dozens have been injured in the fire.
He also said that the compensation of Rs. 2 lakh to the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund announced by the PM is inadequate.
