Two youths run over by truck in UP

A speeding truck mowed down two youngsters in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district on Tuesday, police said.

The accident happened when Farhan, 21, was taking his sister Rafat, 17, and her friend Kajal, 17, to the college for their examination.

As the bike was taking a turn, a speeding truck hit them. Farhan and Kajal were killed on the spot while Rafat has been admitted to a medical facility in a critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said that the bike was stuck under the wheels of the truck and the victims were dragged for a few metres. The truck driver fled the spot and police are on the lookout for him.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
