On being intercepted, the duo allegedly opened fire at the police team while trying to escape. The team retaliated by firing back in self-defence in which Arman sustained bullet injuries on his legs. Subsequently, the team got their hands on the offenders.

“He was immediately shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre for medical treatment, and the other accused, Basheer, 24, also from Bawana, was apprehended on the spot along with an illegal firearm and live cartridge,” the DCP mentioned.

During the shootout, a bullet fired by Arman struck a police officer but he sustained no injuries as he was wearing a bulletproof jacket. The Crime Team and FSL Team were called to the scene for inspection and evidence collection.

Both of the accused have a history of crime. Arman, in particular, has been previously linked to over 50 cases, including robbery, snatching, and violations under the Arms Act, DCP Goel stated in his statement.
