He issued directions to take strict action against the cab drivers and owners who were found violating traffic rules and overloading their cabs ferrying school children.

Urging the school principals and the school management to promote car pooling of private vehicles and encourage the parents for the same, he said that this will help in traffic management.

He said that unnecessary and improper parking of vehicles during the pickup and dropping of students near school often leads to traffic jams which affects traffic management.

He underlined the need of proper parking of school buses before the school children are allowed to de-board the bus and urged the school management to identify safe pick-up and dropping points for the school children.

During the meeting traffic control around the school, control of over speeding, adequate number opf police personnel deployment, yellow line and dedicated space for parking, and deployment of traffic warden was discussed.

He also urged the school principals and the management to take adequate steps to tackle drug abuse and any student found to be suffering from the problem be provided proper timely counselling along with proper coordination with the parents.
