In a significant step towards digitalization of the legislative operations at Delhi Assembly, Speaker Vijender Gupta on Monday inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application’s (NeVA) ‘Seva Centre’ at the legislature premises. The training of MLAs for the application also commenced here.

Speaking on the occasion, Gupta stated, “The inauguration of the NeVA Seva Centre and the successful completion of the first phase of implementation of the application marks a critical milestone in our commitment to a digital, transparent, and sustainable legislature.”

He said that the initiative reflects the alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India, paperless governance, and the transformative idea of ‘One Nation, One Application’.

Gupta said it was unfortunate that earlier governments made no sincere efforts in this direction, adding that, now with NeVA, the gap will be covered and path will be laid for a more accountable and modern legislative ecosystem.

The first batch of MLAs actively participated and showed keen interest in the working of the application. Each of them was provided with a smartphone preloaded with the NeVA, allowing seamless access to the list of business, legislative questions, documents, and session updates.

The three-day training programme, scheduled for the legislators from July 21- 23, is designed to equip them with practical knowledge of the platform and its tools and functionalities.

The training is aimed to ensure effective participation of the MLAs in the upcoming Monsoon Session by enabling a smooth transition to paperless legislative functioning.

Expert trainers from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) conducted the session for the first batch, offering comprehensive, hands-on learning. The three-day training is being conducted in a batch-wise manner across six batches, ensuring personalised and focused engagement for all members.

To facilitate this digital transformation, 18 high-speed computers have been installed at the newly established centre, offering robust infrastructure for uninterrupted training.
