Khap leader Surender Solanki on Thursday said many farmers in several villages of south west Delhi are facing losses with their crops being spoiled due to the water standing in their fields, and urged the government to provide them necessary relief.

Solanki who went to meet the affected farmers said that in villages including Dhansa, Isapur, Jharoda, Mundela, Kair, Kanganheri, Rawta, Ghumanhera and Dichhaon Kalan, stated that due to flood like situation in the fields, the crops of Paddy, Bajra, and Jowar are being destroyed, resulting in huge losses for the farmers.

Solanki claimed that the situation is very bad, to the extent that it is becoming difficult for the farmers regarding sowing of the next crop.

With this problem of the farmers, the Palam 360 Panchayat Pradhan Solanki has appealed to the Delhi government to provide relief for the farmers, demanding at least Rs 50 thousand per acre compensation be released for them, so they can plan for the next harvest.

He said that if a timely solution is not provided to the farmers, they will end up in a financial crisis, and also urged the administration to take concrete steps and arrange for draining the water from the fields.
