Barapullah phase 3 will be ready by June 30, says Verma after inspection of the project
Delhi’s PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Tuesday reviewed work at the Barapullah Phase- 3, one of the key road infrastructure projects in the city.
Parvesh Verma’s latest video walkthrough raises fresh questions on spending inside Sheesh Mahal, listing costly interiors and linking the issue to earlier audit concerns and governance priorities.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma on Thursday escalated his attack on the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, sharing a video walkthrough of the controversial “Sheesh Mahal” and alleging excessive spending on luxury fittings inside the former chief minister’s residence.
The remarks come a day after the Public Works Department (PWD) Minister cited audit findings in the Assembly to argue that the project reflected a gap between public promises and governance. He had earlier claimed that while the capital struggled during COVID, the bungalow project moved with unusual urgency.

In a nearly 15-minute video posted on X, Verma is seen entering the premises and pointing to various items he says were installed at high cost. The clip opens with the title “Dhurandhar Part 3: Delhi ke Rehman dakaait ki kahani”.

He contrasts this with earlier assurances by Arvind Kejriwal that he would not take an official car or bungalow, alleging instead that a “Sheesh Mahal” was built.
Inside the residence, Verma claims that the kitchen alone involved spending of around Rs 1.5 crore, including a chimney worth Rs 5 lakh. He further alleges that curtains cost Rs 95 lakh, chandeliers Rs 88 lakh, and a television Rs 28 lakh.
The minister also claims that the electricity bill ran up to Rs 5 lakh per month, paid from public funds. He points to other facilities such as a jacuzzi costing Rs 6 lakh and a sauna room worth Rs 10 lakh.
Verma further alleges that the structure was expanded and, had the previous government returned to power, an additional Rs 60 crore would have been spent. He describes the residence as featuring multiple drawing rooms, including one with leather sofas and another with gold-plated lighting fixtures.

On Wednesday, Verma had told the Assembly that the cost of the bungalow rose sharply over time and questioned the prioritisation of the project. He cited audit observations to claim that key public service files did not receive similar urgency during the same period.
He had also argued that funds meant for COVID relief were not fully utilised, while spending on the residence increased significantly. According to him, several luxury items, from imported fittings to designer interiors, were installed even as the city faced a health crisis.
Verma also raised concerns about procedural issues, including tree cutting and demolition of structures, alleging that due permissions were not taken.
The AAP has not yet responded to the latest video claims.
