Former chief minister and Kangra MP, Shanta Kumar on Friday said speedy investigation should be carried out in Gudia gangrape and murder case to restore public’ faith in the central investigating agency.

Shanta Kumar said the heinous crime took place five months and still no arrests have been made by CBI in the gangrape and murder.

In beginning, the HP Police tried to divert the course of fair investigations by implicating innocent in the case which led to huge public outrage, which resulted in the High Court handing over the probe to CBI, he said.

He said nine police officials have also been arrested in the case but still the real accused are still at large while the general public is carrying out protests to seek justice for the victim.

“It is a matter of concern that the CBI hasn’t been able to nab the real culprits even after three months while the agency should have cracked the case by now,” he said.
