Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday announced that March 2 will be a special day dedicated to the daughters and women of the national capital, with several major women-centric welfare schemes set to be launched in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that multiple initiatives aimed at women empowerment will be rolled out during the programme.
Under the “Meri Punji, Mera Adhikar” scheme, a total of 40,642 girls will receive direct financial assistance amounting to Rs 100 crore in their bank accounts, she said, adding that the move is intended to strengthen financial security and promote long-term empowerment of young girls.

Gupta further announced the launch of the ‘Saheli Pink Smart Card’ to facilitate free bus travel for women across Delhi. The initiative seeks to enhance mobility, safety and accessibility for women commuters in the city.
On the occasion of Holi, the government will also roll out a free LPG cylinder scheme with an outlay of Rs 128 crore, aimed at providing relief to women from economically weaker sections.
Additionally, the Chief Minister said the ‘Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’ will be launched as part of the broader push for economic empowerment of girls.
Describing Holi as a celebration dedicated to the women power of Delhi, Gupta said the festival this year would mark a significant step towards strengthening the rights, dignity and financial independence of women in the capital.
