The Rashtriya Janwadi Party (RJP), which is in alliance with the Samajwadi Party, has fielded candidates on 8 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The party has also made serious allegations against SP President Akhilesh Yadav, claiming that the SP is working like the B team of BJP.

RJP National President Dr Sanjay Chauhan has claimed that Yadav had asked him to prepare for the elections from Ghosi seat.

“But two days ago, he declared his candidate for Ghosi seat. On this, a meeting of party leaders was held at the state office in Lucknow. I will contest the Lok Sabha poll from Ghosi seat. Similarly, the party workers will also contest in Machhilishahr, Ghazipur, Ballia, Chandauli, Lalganj, Varanasi and Bhadohi seats,” Chauhan said.

Dr Chauhan alleged that the SP President talks about PDA, but does not want to give respect to the fraternity. Their behavior is also not good towards backward castes, he said.

Dr Chauhan claimed that Rajiv Rai is a weak candidate for Ghosi and the people of Chauhan community are not going to vote for him, who have around 3.5 lakh votes.

In UP, there are about 40 lakh voters of Nonia Chauhan community, which is about 2.33 per cent in the OBC community.

The RJP formed an alliance with the BJP in the 2012 assembly elections. The BJP handed over Madhuban, Ghosi, Jakhania, Utraulia and Sevata seats to it but the party had to
face defeat on all seats.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party fielded candidates on 17 seats and in the 2017 Assembly elections, the party fielded candidates on 25 seats.

In the year 2019, the RJP joined the SP. Dr Chauhan contested from Chandauli Lok Sabha constituency on the SP but lost by 13,000 votes.

The RJP was in alliance with the SP in the 2022 assembly elections too and fielded candidates from Utraula, Khadda and Rasra seats on the SP symbol but came second on all the three seats.
