Punjab traffic wing to reward cops for exemplary service

The traffic wing of the Punjab Police has decided to honour its personnel showing exemplary zeal during duty to save the lives of citizens and making the roads safer as well as congestion free.

Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the Punjab Police said one traffic police employee would be selected on the basis of feedback received from the citizens and be honored as the ‘police personnel of the week and month.

In this regard, citizens could tweet, send e-mails, post comments on Punjab police web portal or even send message on Whatsapp to the officers with photographs. He added that the selected personnel would be handed over commendation certificates or cash rewards based on the feedback. The certificate would be titled as “you make the difference”, the spokesman informed.

The spokesperson divulged that the first such certificates were given to two head constables, Gurdhian Singh and Gurdev Singh, both posted in SAS Nagar (Mohali) by the Chief Minister Punjab Amarinder Singh and Director General of Police (DGP), Suresh Arora as per the feedback provided by known Bollywood star, Gul Panag.

The duo were controlling the traffic even during the rain at Zirakpur (adjoining Chandigarh) and Panag sent her feedback with photographs to the CM who then forwarded it to the DGP to honour the cops.

He further said every month valuable suggestions for improving traffic and road safety from the citizens would also be appreciated by presenting a similar certificate.

This would encourage a positive interaction between the citizens and traffic police to make Punjab roads safer and congestion free true to the motto of the traffic wing “Together we can”, the spokesperson added.
