Police register case against woman beating up in-laws

We have heard of in-laws torturing the daughter-in-law, but here is a case in the reverse.The Binjharpur police on Monday booked a woman teacher of a government primary school for beating her octogenarian in-laws.

The victims, Giridhari Behera (89) and his wife Sundari Behera (85), residents of Dihakula under Aaunri panchayat lodged a complaint with the local police in this regard on Sunday night following which an FIR was registered against the accused daughter-in-law.

The accused, identified as Tilotama Nayak has been working as a teacher at Damodarpur nodal upper primary school under Binjharpur block. The victims, in their complaint to the police, had alleged that their younger daughter-in-law who works as a teacher in a local school misbehaves and humiliates them.

She had even assaulted them physically. “The old couple was staying with the employed son and daughter-in-law with a hope to get better treatment and maintenance as both son and daughter-in-law are employed,” said Binjharpur police station inspector-incharge Suchitra Birjya Das.

Das said as the son of the octogenarian couple works outside, they live with the daughter-in-law alone. “Taking advantage of the absence of the son, the daughter-in-law used to misbehave with the octogenarian couple,” he said adding the accused used to thrash the old couple over petty issues.

“It is too much. We cannot tolerate her oppression any more, the complaint told police adding they want their daughter-in-law be punished as per law.
