Punjab expected to procure 132 lakh metric tons wheat: Chief Secretary
Punjab is expected to procure 132 lakh metric tons wheat, out of which 17.14 lakh metric tons have already been acquired, Chief Secretary Anurag Verma said on Sunday.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh distributed 9,592 job appointment letters to youths under his government’s flagship scheme ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar te Karobar’ (job for every household and business) during an event held in Ludhiana on Sunday. With this, the state government has claimed to generate total 1,61,522 jobs in the first year of Congress-led state government’s rule.
An official spokesperson said the second job fair was organised by the government at 150 venues from 20 February to 8 March. Several major corporates, including Maruti Suzuki, Microsoft, ICICI Bank, Amazon, etc, used the platform to hire talent, added the spokesperson.
Addressing the state-level function in Ludhiana, the CM congratulated the youngsters who had got their appointment letters, while thanking a large number of corporates which hired the youth as part of the job fairs.

The CM said that with his government now fully settled in, the process of giving employment to all the unemployed youngsters would pick up speed.
