On the conclusion of the budget session of the Delhi Assembly on Friday, Health and Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh strongly criticised the Opposition for abstaining from the house proceedings.
Addressing the media, Dr Singh hit out at the Opposition members for deliberately abstaining from proceedings despite being aware of the importance of the discussions, particularly during the tabling of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. He remarked that such a conduct of the Opposition reflects a lack of responsibility which undermines the democratic process. “Their absence seemed intentional, especially in light of issues likely to emerge during discussions, including those related to the ‘Sheesh Mahal’,” he said.

He emphasised that transparency and accountability remain central to the government’s functioning and the facts presented in the House will continue to be in the public domain.
Reiterating Rekha Gupta government’s development agenda, the Minister highlighted the significant budgetary push to strengthening of Delhi’s health and transport sectors.
Budget 2026-27 allocated Rs 13,034 crore to healthcare and Rs 12,613 crore to transport, underlining a strong commitment to accessible healthcare and a modern, efficient mobility ecosystem.
He said that the health sector would receive major investments in public health infrastructure, completion of long-pending hospital projects, expansion of medical education, and the development of integrated healthcare facilities.
At the same time, he said, the transport sector will witness accelerated efforts towards green mobility, including expansion of electric buses, continued metro investments, and the upcoming rollout of EV Policy 2.0.
