Another controversy over beef has surfaced with a group of students from Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad in Kerala’s Alappuzha district alleging that North Indian students were being served beef cutlets.
On Saturday, some students wrote a letter to Alappuzha’s District Magistrate (DM) and complained against their principal for offending religious sentiments. In the letter, the students, reportedly, wrote that a many students are depressed that their religious sentiments have been hurt.
In the complaint, the students have mentioned that they were told that the food is vegetarian when they asked the authorities whether it was vegetarian or non-vegetarian before eating the food.

The incident took place on 25 January on the sidelines of a seminar on digital banking and students came to know about the ingredient of the cutlets only after eating them.
They went on to say that they were also not allowed to celebrate Saraswati Puja when it coincided with a strike in Kerala.
According to media reports, College principal Sunilkumar N has told that the event organizers (bank officials) had arranged the for snacks for the participants and asserted that he didn’t know non-vegetarian food was served.
