A 42-year-old villager was killed allegedly by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on the suspicion that he was a ‘police informer’, police said on Sunday.
The body of Bele Ram Dhruv was found this morning on the outskirts of his village Sarandi under Tadoki police station limits, a senior police official told PTI.
As per preliminary information, a group of ultras stormed inside the house of Dhruv, who was running a small cycle store along with grocery shop in the village, last night and took him along with them into a nearby forest.

They then strangled him to death and threw his body there, he said.
After getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and his body was brought for postmortem, he added.
“Dhruv’s two brothers are posted as policemen in Kanker district,” the official added.
The exact cause behind the murder was yet to be ascertained. However, some Maoist pamphlets recovered from the spot in which he was branded as a “police informer”, he said.
A search operation was launched in the region to nab the assailants, he said.
In another incident, some Maoists pamphlets were recovered from a field in Barrebeda village in Antagarh region of Kanker in which ultras have given a call to observe People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA – military-wing of the Maoists) from December 2 to 8, the official said.
Security forces have intensified patrolling in the interior forest of Bastar division, comprises seven districts, in view of the Maoists week during which they step up their activities.
