The Delhi Election Commission has announced 30 November as the date for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections, on Tuesday.
The bypolls are being held to fill the vacancies of town representatives that opened up in the civic body after 13 Municipal Councillors belonging to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) resigned from their party in May this year, citing stalled development work and growing internal discontent.

According to the election body, a total of 12 posts are open, including six general seats, five for women, and one for a Scheduled Caste candidate.
Nominations will remain open for one week, starting next Monday, on November 3, and will be scrutinised for two days after closing until November 12, the official document stated.
After the single day of voting, the counting of votes is scheduled for December 3, the state election commission notified.
Responding to the announcement of the civic agency by-elections, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the notification and said that the election results will come one-sidedly in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He further highlighted the BJP government’s achievements in the past eight months, claiming that its work — including arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra and Chhath festival celebrations, as well as the decision to conduct artificial rain after Diwali to curb pollution from fireworks — has impressed many Delhiites. He added that, given these efforts, people are likely to vote overwhelmingly for the BJP in the upcoming by-elections.
