Trinamool Congress on Thursday wrote to Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju, demanding a through inquiry by his ministry to unearth the truth behind Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s flight being made to hover over the Kolkata airport despite the plane reportedly running low on fuel.
“We have written a letter to Raju, demanding a high-level probe into the incident by the Civil Aviation Ministry to unfold the truth and reasons for the dilly-dallying attitude of the Air Traffic Controller, NSCBI airport,” TMC vice- president Mukul Roy said.
“We hope the inquiry report will be given to us within a fortnight or a month from the date of receipt of the letter,” Roy said.
A political row has erupted over Banerjee’s IndiGo flight from Patna to Kolkata being made to wait despite the plane reportedly low on fuel with TMC members raising the issue in Parliament on Thursday.
The party has demanded that it be ascertained if there was any conspiracy to kill the West Bengal chief minister.
“This is nothing but a conspiracy to kill our chief minister as she has raised voice against demonetisation and is touring the country to organise a mass movement against the anti-people decision. We think a proper inquiry should be held to unearth the truth,” Roy said.
