AAP slams Centre, police over Ghaziabad madrassa rape case
The AAP on Thursday slammed the Centre and the police in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for their inability to arrest…
The Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday ordered that the accused in the rape case of an 11-year-old girl inside a madrassa in Sahibabad in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh would be tried as an adult, said reports.
The accused claimed that he is 17-year-old, but couldn’t produce any document to prove that he was a minor. Later, he was made to undergo a bone ossification test to determine his age.
The bone ossification test report indicated that he is not below 18, police said on Tuesday.

The report was submitted to juvenile justice board on Tuesday following which the matter was listed for hearing on Wednesday.
“The test report indicates that he is a major,” an officer said.
Earlier this week, the police had also arrested Ghulam Shahid, the madrassa cleric, for allegedly being aware of the presence of the girl on the premises.
The police were informed on April 21 by the girl’s father that she had gone missing from Ghazipur in east Delhi after she went to the market.
Subsequently, the girl was rescued from the madrassa on April 22 by a Delhi Police team and the “juvenile” was apprehended.
The victim had recorded her statement in front of a magistrate on April 23.
