The Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation, known for its work in healthcare and social causes, celebrated Raksha Bandhan this year in a very special way. At the Raj Bhawan in Lucknow, the governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, welcomed hundreds of visually impaired children for the occasion.

Volunteers from the foundation made sure the children arrived safely and comfortably at the Governor’s residence. The governor personally tied Raksha Sutras on the children’s wrists and shared sweets with them.

The foundation’s story is deeply personal for its founder, Rajesh Singh Dayal. A well-known social activist and educationist in Lucknow, his dedication to service grew stronger after the loss of his son, Kunwar, at just 20 years old. In his son’s memory, he began Kunwar Lives and Kunwar’s Educational Foundation, which focused on improving education for rural and underprivileged children.

Over time, these efforts grew into the Rajesh Singh Dayal Foundation, which has provided free health services to more than 1.5 lakh people across Uttar Pradesh.

Now, the foundation is taking on its most ambitious project yet, building a 600-bed multi-specialty hospital in Lucknow. This hospital aims to offer high-quality, affordable medical care, with a special focus on helping communities that often struggle to access healthcare.

Once completed, it will be a major step toward improving medical facilities in the state and reaching people who need it the most.

From organising health camps to running inclusive community events and education programs, the foundation aims to stay true to its values of compassion and service.
