After the arrest of Sona Pappu, less known by his real name Biswajit Poddar, in connection with an ongoing land-grabbing investigation, the Kolkata strongman’s wife, Soma Poddar appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at the CGO Complex on Tuesday.
Poddar was summoned by the central probe agency as part of the its investigation into the alleged land scam involving Pappu and Behala-based businessman Joy Kamdar.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, the ED had traced financial transactions between a company owned by Soma Poddar and a business entity linked to Joy Kamdar.
Investigators are now examining the nature of these transactions and whether they have any connection to the alleged land dealings under scrutiny. The development assumes significance as no charge sheet has yet been filed against Sona Pappu in the case.
However, the ED’s decision to summon Poddar suggests that officials are closely examining financial links and associated business dealings.
The case has already seen significant action, with former Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sinha Biswas having been arrested earlier in connection with the matter.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police have taken Pappu into custody after arresting him in connection with an incident of unrest reported in the Golpark area of South Kolkata.
Police officials are currently interrogating him regarding that incident while parallel investigations continue.
