Air India signs codeshare accord with largest Japanese carrier
Air India, India’s leading global airline, and All Nippon Airways, the largest Japanese carrier, have signed a codeshare agreement connecting their networks.
Flight operations have resumed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport in Kolkata. The first departure since the closure of the Kolkata airport runway, in the wake of the extremely severe Cyclone Fani threat over the Bay of Bengal, was recorded at 09:57 hours, Saturday, when Air India AI 743 took off for Agartala.
Kolkata airport authorities said GoAir G8 101 flight from Delhi was the first to land on Saturday, and it touched the ground in Kolkata at around 1010 hours.

On Friday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation had announced that no flight would depart or arrive at the Kolkata airport from 3 pm on Friday to 8 am Saturday in view of the cyclonic storm ‘Fani’, which hit the Odisha coast in the morning.
Earlier, it had said there would be no flights to and from Kolkata airport between 9.30 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. However, timings regarding the shutdown of flight operations were revised after observing the progress of Cyclone Fani.
“Revised timings provided by AAI for Kolkata airport; From 1500 IST
on 3.5.2019 till 0800 IST on 4.5.2019,” the DGCA said in a statement.
In a series of tweets, Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said on Friday that all airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers affected by Cyclone Fani.
“We are ready to offer help needed for the stranded due to cyclonic storm Fani. Control room, helplines are manned all times to assist affected passengers. All Airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers,” he posted.
Cyclone Fani hit Bengal coast post midnight hours, and is likely to enter Bangladesh around Saturday noon.
