3 Odisha traffickers arrested with 16.5 kg of ganja in Bengal’s Bardhaman town

Three youths from Odisha were intercepted by the police for smuggling ganja weighing around 16.5 kg in West Bengal’s Bardhaman town on Monday.

A police team, acting on a tip-off, was waiting near the Goda Crossing underpass on NH-19 and intercepted a car heading towards Durgapur.

The raiding officials seized the contraband narcotic substance, packed in different bags for delivery to respective locations.

The arrested persons were identified as Pradipta Kumar Mukhi of Red Bazar under the Nimapada police station area in Odisha’s Puri district, and Ramiz Raja Khan and Sheikh Azam of Palasahi in Khurda district of Odisha.

A case was registered against them under Sections 20(b), 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

The accused were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bardhaman and were remanded to five days’ police custody.
