The Chief Minister (CM), Manohar Lal Khattar has urged the Union ministry of Road Transport and Highways to declare road stretch from Haryana-Punjab border-Ratia-Fatehabad with length of 31.658 kilometers falling in Haryana as National Highway (NH).

While stating this on Friday, a spokesman of Public Works (Building and Roads) Department said that the proposed start point for the stretch falling in Haryana is at Haryana-Punjab Border and end point has been proposed at junction of project road with Fatehabad bypass which is part of Delhi-Hisar-Sirsa road NH-9 (Old NH-10).

He said that this road connects NH-9 (Old NH-10) that is Delhi-Hisar-Fazilka road with NH-148B that is Kotputli-Narnaul-Bhiwani-Hansi-Tohana-Jakhal-Budhlada-Mansa-Bathinda road. These two main arteries carry interstate freight traffic from northern India.

The spokesman said that by declaring Fatehabad-Budhlada road stretch as National Highway and upgrading it to NH standards, connection between the above two National Highways would reduce the travel time and improve the connectivity between Fatehabad (on NH-9) and Budhlada (on NH-148B).

He said that it serves as one of the main entry point to Punjab and connects Barnala, Mansa and Ludhiana towns. Besides, it also improves the economic activity from Hisar, Fatehabad and Uklana towns with nearby business centres of Punjab.
