On August 7, the matter was referred to the Committee of Privileges for examination, and it was directed to seek the comments of the people mentioned above regarding the authenticity of the existence of the gallows.

It was on August 6, the present speaker of the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta had denied the existence of a ‘Faansi ghar’ (gallows room) in the Assembly premises.

Gupta claimed that there was no history of any such space, and had also conducted a guided tour for the media, aimed at clarifying what he called a misrepresentation of facts.

He had noted that maps of the complex preserved at archives contain no reference to any gallows; instead, they mark the spaces in question as two Tiffin rooms, located on either side of the Speaker’s chamber.
