JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy asserted on Sunday that  his party will form the government in Karnataka in association with the BSP.

His confidence stemmed from the regular tours and interactions that he has had with the average citizens,he said.

Mr Kumaraswamy, who is campaigning in Mandya, told The Statesman here that the response from the electorate had given him the required confidence  , in addition to the  poor governance of  the ruling party.

The BSP is contesting 15 seats in the 224 member assembly with the JDs , as partner, fighting for the other constituencies.Elections to the state assembly are scheduled for 12 May.

Responding to queries on the Congress  manifesto, he said that the ruling party  could not pull the  wool over people’s eyes. The very party which had undermined the state Lokayukta’s office  during its tenure  , was talking about strengthening the ombudsman’s office. Did the party really expect the people to believe it, he wondered.

Similarly, he slammed the Congress for promising the generation of one crore jobs in the next five years in the event it came to power. According to him, the same party had failed to fill over two lakh vacancies in the various offices under its aegis. This was indeed a double speak.

Likewise , he charged the BJP and the Congress with looting the state. And ,yet ,the JDS leader said, they were  talking about eliminating corruption.

Between them the two parties were guilty of leaving the state with  a debt burden of over Rs 300,000 crore.  Replying to another query he brushed aside suggestions that he had met BJP president, Amit Shah.

He lashed out chief minister Siddaramiah for what he termed as” spreading falsehood:” Can he give details of where I met him and when? he asked .
