Haryana: African national held for supplying drugs to students

The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has arrested an African national and a local resident for selling heroin to students in Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.

Police has also seized 53.50-gram heroin and 130 gram charas from their possession, an spokesman of Police Department said on Wednesday.
He said the arrested accused have been identified as Firmeen, a native of West Africa and Anshu of Jhang Colony, Rohtak.

Both have been arrested by STF sleuths near Tau Dhaba, Devi Lal Park in Rohtak. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they supply drugs at the rate of Rs 30,000 per 10 gram to the students.

The spokesman said a team of STF got a secret information that two youth, including a foreigner, are about to reach the University to supply heroin. Acting swiftly, the police team nabbed them. When searched, 3.50-gram heroin was recovered from Anshu and 50-gram heroin along with 130-gram charas was seized from Firemeen.

He said that both the accused are being interrogated in this regard and to unearth other cases of drug supply. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them and police is investigating the source of drug suppliers and involvement of foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police, BS Sandhu said the state police would not allow any drug menace in the state and stern action would be taken against those who were found involved in these activities or supporting such evil practises.

He urged the people to come forward and share the information relating to drug peddlers with the police.
