After 141 years Kumudranjan gets statue at his ancestral home
On his 141st birth anniversary, a half-bust statue of Bengal's rural poet Kumudranjan Mullick was unveiled at his ancestral home in East Burdwan today.
Calcutta University( CU) kicked off its exam season with controversy as Gurudas college mixed up their dates of examination that inconvenienced several examinees.
While the first half of the exam went off smoothly, students who were awaiting their exam for the second half in Gurudas College were left disappointed.
They did not get their question papers at all even pass the exam time. About 60 students of Gurudas College were waiting for their question papers on Wednesday.

Despite waiting for hours when the college authorities did not get any question paper, they informed the university that no question paper has reached.
Principal Mousumi Chatterjee when contacted said students were seated in their respective rooms but no question paper reached them. “The first half went smoothly but the question papers for the second half did not reach us.
“Students were waiting. We have informed the university,” the principal said.
Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee, however, clarified the college has mixed up the dates.
“It was not the fault of the university and there was no question of college students not getting their question papers as their exam was not scheduled on Wednesday..”
The college professor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee said they had mixed up the dates and the exam will be held on schedule on Thursday.

The students were inconvenienced I know but we are requesting them to look over the mistake and come back on Thursday for the exam,” professor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee informed The Statesman.
