In a move aimed to benefit thousands of employees under the Delhi Vidyut Board, the Delhi Government has proposed an increase in the gratuity limit for Employees Terminal Benefit Fund (2002) pensioners from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. The decision is going to benefit around 500 pensioners immediately.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Minister of Education, Home and Power Department, Delhi Government, it was stated that the Government of NCT of Delhi has taken a proactive step to ensure the welfare of DVB-ETBF (2002) pensioners under the Pension Trust by proposing the increase. The proposal was discussed in detail by the Power Department and has been submitted for consideration and ratification by the Board of Trustees.

Delhi’s Minister of Power, Ashish Sood, stated that the Government of NCT of Delhi remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of its retired employees and ensures timely resolution of all matters.

Speaking about the financial implication of this increase, Sood said that it is estimated to cost approximately Rs 16 crore for the period from 01.01.2024 to 31.03.2025, and another Rs 15 crore for DA and future increments.

The proposed enhancement aligns with endorsements from the Government of India’s Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare. This move reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the financial security and dignity of retired employees, the statement read further.
