With the arrest of four African origin suspects, the Delhi Police claimed to have dismantled an interstate narcotics syndicate operating from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

According to the police, over 20 kg of high-grade methamphetamine was confiscated, along with 700 drug tablets. The value of the recovered contraband in the international market is estimated to be over Rs 100 crore.

“The operation began on November 1 after specific intelligence inputs, after which a trap was laid near the Dhaula Kuan bus stand, where Ezebuenyi Esther Osita (45) was intercepted with a red trolley bag,” said Aalap Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

The officer said a thorough search led to the recovery of 17.146 kg of meth and the tablets. With this, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Based on the confession made by Osita, the police got their hands on Charles Chimuanya Ebereonwu (32) from Chander Vihar on November 5, and recovered another 3 kg of meth, DCP Patel said.

During the raid, the police team also unearthed a mobile drug manufacturing lab in Nilothi Extension, stocked with precursor chemicals, solvents and laboratory equipment. Further investigation led to the arrest of Chinoye Emmanuel (46), who allegedly operated the manufacturing setup, and finally Diarra Idriss (38), alias White Money, was tracked down to Bengaluru on November 7.

According to the DCP, the syndicate procured drugs in Delhi, used courier carriers, primarily women, to transport consignments, and distributed them across major cities.

“Idriss allegedly sold the drugs locally in Bengaluru and funnelled the proceeds to Nigeria through informal channels,” he added.

All the four accused were found staying in India without valid travel documents, prompting the police to invoke provisions of the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to identify other members of the group involved in the cartel, the officer stated in his statement.
