KMC demolition team faces resistance at Garden Reach
The situation turned tense after a large number of locals posed an obstruction while pulling down portions of a building that had leaned visibly and had been identified for demolition by the KMC
Fire broke out at a hosiery factory at Bankra in Howrah district this Monday morning.
Since the employees had not reported for work when the fire broke out, no one suffered burns, Fire Brigade sources said.
The fire was first noticed in stacks of hay piled on a plot adjacent to the three-storeyed building, housing the factory.

Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
The extent of loss is yet to be ascertained.
