Police have sought public assistance in locating four Indian-origin men, aged between 22-30 years, in connection with an aggravated assault that took place in Canadian city of Brampton.
A 50 year old man has been arrested by Bangiriposhi police on the charge of committing sexual assault against a differently abled 16- year-old minor girl. The accused has been identified as Surendra Nayak, of Pathuri GP of Bangriposhi block. Police besides arresting Nayak also took two other accomplices, Changa Nayak,55 and Tuna Palei, 50 into custody.
They were being interrogated and their role, said police. According to them, police, the victim is a deaf and dumb. The trio on Monday night visited the victim’s house consumed country made liquor with her father.
Under the influence of liquor her father fell asleep and others left the house. Surendra however took the victim, who was sleeping in another room, out with him to a nearby field committed the offence. A woman in neighbour , in the early hours spotted the victim lying in the field. The father of the victim lodged an FIR with police.
Senior police officials including the Superintendent of Police Anirudhha Singh rushed to the village. After arresting the main accused Surendra they sent both the victim and him for medical examination.
The sub-div police officer, Baripada, Sadar, Abhimanyu Nayak said, “A case under section 376 of IPC has been registered. The accused would be forwarded to court after medical examination later on Wednesday.” “The role of other two accused, in custody, is verified. If found the case would be modified under section of gang rape,” he said.
