ABVP denies role in Vidyasagar varsity, alleges bid to tarnish image
The statement came amid political tensions in educational institutions following the declaration of the Assembly election results on 4 May.
ABVP scored a major win in the 2025 Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, bagging three of the four top posts, including the president, while NSUI secured the vice president’s post amid heavy security during counting.

After winning the post of Vice President, Jhansla said that he would dedicate his victory to his team, while adding that it was a tough competition.
Jhansla told ANI, “My team worked really hard and I dedicate my victory to my team. I want to thank everyone for supporting me throughout my journey. It was a tough competition. I congratulate all candidates, regardless of their victory or loss. Life does not stop here.”
ABVP clinched the posts of President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, further cementing its dominance on the DU campus.
Newly elected Delhi University Students’ Union Secretary, ABVP leader Kunal Choudhary said, “I feel very good. I want to thank every student of the Delhi University for voting and supporting me. I want to assure them that I will stand with them whenever they will need me.”
The counting of votes was conducted at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium under heavy security, with personnel from the Delhi Police, central forces, and university staff present.
Senior police officials and the election officer monitored the process at the counting centre.
Voting for the DUSU elections 2025 took place on Thursday amid tight security.
Polling held in two shifts – 8.30 am to 1 pm for day classes and 3 pm to 7.30 pm for evening classes.
The main contest for the President’s post was between the National Students Union of India (NSUI) of the Opposition Congress and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) of the ruling BJP.
Left-backed SFI-AISA was also among the major contestants for the President’s post.
