Delhi’s Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday announced the launch of a ‘Swachhata’ portal, which is part of the “Delhi ko Kude Se Azaadi” cleanliness campaign, underway in the city up to August 31.

The portal has been designed so that any institution, government office, or Resident Welfare Association (RWA) can upload before-and-after photographs of cleanliness activities carried out in their respective areas.

Sood has appealed to the residents of the national capital to come forward and participate in this cleanliness drive run by the government and contribute to making Delhi a cleaner, better, and more livable city.

He emphasised that the city is not only the country’s capital, but also a reflection of the the entire nation

He pointed out that if one needs to realise the vision of a developed India, the first step must be to make a metropolis like Delhi clean, eco-friendly, and appealing, and this is something that requires collective effort, along with participation from all the residents of the national capital.

Sood also shared that the Department of Education has identified 4,000 locations that require priority-based cleaning, and cleanliness work at these locations has already commenced.

He urged that, in the spirit of “Each One, Clean One,” every citizen of the national capital should contribute their “shramdan” to this campaign.

The UD minister further stated that as part of the cleanliness campaign, the department is organising a competition for RWAs, and any such association can take part by uploading photos of the cleanliness works carried out by them.

He informed that the departments, institutions, organisations, and the RWAs must first register themselves on the Swachhata Portal.

They are required to upload photographs taken before and after the cleanliness drives, and later, the evaluation officials will examine the photographs and also conduct on-site inspections to assess the actual situation before awarding points.

Sood also shared that anyone can visit the Swachhata Portal, register their institution or RWA for the cleanliness competition, and upload the before-and-after photos of their cleanliness activities.

He said that a committee under the DM concerned will be constituted in every revenue district of the city to evaluate the RWA in the competition.

The committee will inspect the cleanliness efforts of the participating RWAs, and accordingly, prizes will be awarded as follows the First carrying Rs 25 lakh, Second Prize – Rs 15 lakh, and Third Prize – Rs 10 lakh.

Sood also mentioned that the prize money won by RWAs will be used for developmental works in their societies and colonies.
