Revamped tourist police vans flagged off

The refurbished vans will be more conspicuous with pictures of important tourist places on either side. The police personnel will sport yellow-maroon badges with Tourist Police logo on their left arm.

Delhi Police Commisisoner Amulya Patnaik flagged off five more refurbished PCR tourist patrolling vans at India Gate’s C Hexagon on Thursday. Delhi Tourist Police is already operating 10 such vehicles in Pahar Ganj, Ajmeri Gate, Terminal- 3 IGI Airport, India Gate, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, Rajghat, Palika Bazar and Janpath Market.

The refurbished vans will be more conspicuous with pictures of important tourist places on either side. The police personnel will sport yellow-maroon badges with Tourist Police logo on their left arm.

Each tourist patrolling van will be manned by police personnel, including women staff, with specialised training in hospitality, behavioural skills, working knowledge of English and general tourist information.

The tourist vans have been provided with city map, literature on tourism, brochures, auto-taxi fare charts and important telephone numbers. Tourist police will take quick action in case of harassment of tourists by touts, unscrupulous elements and unauthorised agents.

Special CPs S Nithianandam, Taj Hassan, R S Krishnia, Sandeep Goel, R P Upadhyaya, Satish Golchha, S K Gautam, Sanjay Singh, M M Oberoi, Nuzhat Hassan, Tajender Luthra, and joint CPs. Ravindra Yadav, Ajay Chaudhary, Devesh Srivastava, Madhup Tiwari and other senior police officers were also present.
