Taking cognizance of the Kanjhawala incident, in which a girl was dragged with a car for over 13 kilometers leading to her brutal death, The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the Commissioner of Police (CP), Delhi to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a report as soon as possible.

According to a source in the MHA, Additional Secretary to the Government of India Rakesh Kumar Singh has written a letter to the CP, Delhi for a detailed inquiry into the incident by the Special Commissioner of Police Shalini Singh. Further, a report has been sought on the outcome of the inquiry.

As per the sources, the CP, Delhi himself will monitor the inquiry. He has given the required directions to senior police officers of the district.

Post-mortem on the body of the deceased was reportedly conducted on Monday by a team of doctors. The police is awaiting a report to carry on their investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, people in Delhi are still in shock over the incident. Questions are being raised on the conduct of the Outer District Police that seem to have been absent from the roads lest how such a gruesome incident could not come to their notice. It is being said if the police were alert that night, life of the 20-year-old girl could have been saved.

If sources are to be believed, no police picket was there along the stretch of 13 kilometres on which the car dragged the girl. The stretch goes through two districts including Outer and Rohini, but there was no police picket to stop them.

The car ran through big potholes, construction materials, and rough patches on the road. This is the reason the backside of the body of girl was completely ripped off.
