Agartala-Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani to run via Malda
Passengers of Malda heading towards the country’s capital would now be able to enjoy a comfortable journey in state-of-the-art Tejas Rajdhani Express while travelling to Delhi.
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Tuesday held a meeting to assess the progress of the redevelopment plan for the Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBT).
The meeting aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and functionality of key transport hubs.
Speaking on the occasion, Gahlot said the government was dedicated to ushering in a new era of modernisation and efficiency in urban transportation with its commitment to revitalizing the Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan ISBTs.

The plan for revamping Anand Vihar ISBT involves the construction of a state-of-the-art bus terminal, offering passengers a range of transport options, including railway, metro, RRTS, and local & inter-state buses, while the site will also have a shopping complex, banqueting facility, budget hotel, terrace restaurants and cafes, office spaces , student housing, rental housing, and housing for professionals.
Similarly, for Sarai Kale Khan, redevelopment includes a versatile bus terminal with interconnectivity options for various modes of transport and other amenities on the lines of Anand Vihar’ redevelopment plan.
In the meeting, the concerned officials informed the minister that the project’s site assessment, topographic survey, traffic assessment, and market analysis have all been finalized.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DTIDC) and the Delhi Transport Department.
The feasibility study for the project is going on and its detailed report will soon be given by the project consultant firm Ernst & Young (E&Y).
The comprehensive plan aims to maximize the utilization of these vital areas while exploring their commercial viability, the government has said.
A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is set to be inked between the Delhi government and the involved agencies upon clearance from all concerned bodies.
