People of Delhi woke up to yet another chilly morning on Thursday as the minimum temperature in the city pegged at as low as 4.8 degrees Celsius, three points less than normal for the season, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The national capital witnessed dense fog at some places during early hours of Thursday till 8-9 am, the weatherman reported. Several trains bound for Delhi were delayed due to the fog across the northern region.
The cold day conditions prevailed at isolated places across the city, while the ice-cold winds made people shiver.

The sky remained partly cloudy throughout the day with relative humidity between 69- 97 per cent, the weather agency said.
However, there was a little comfort for some time from the sun during the day, but that too proved short-lived. The bright sunshine didn’t last for long as the mercury again dipped towards the evening.
The maximum temperature during the day reached to 20.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below season’s normal, the IMD said.
For Friday, the weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky and moderate to dense fog in the morning hours. The Cold Day conditions are likely to stay on Friday while the minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to settle around 6 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively, the weather agency added.
As for the city’s average air quality, the AQI level on Thursday witnessed an improvement and rolled back into the ‘very poor’ zone, which had stepped into the ‘severe’ zone on Wednesday.
The improvement in AQI was 77 points compared to what it was on Wednesday, as the city recorded the index value at 332 on Friday, the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said.
Meanwhile, the IMD said the cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to prevail over North India during the coming two days, and decrease in intensity thereafter.
The Weather Department has also forecast “dense” to “very dense” fog over many places of North India during the next two days and improve thereafter with reduction in the intensity and duration.
