An unknown person allegedly fired upon a taxi driver in Prem Nagar area near Safdarjung Bus terminal, the police said on Sunday.
On enquiry, the police found that the injured driver had noticed a suspicious person roaming around his vehicle.
When 41-year-old Rakesh Kumar went up to the unknown man and asked as to who he was, the man took out the weapon and fired at him.

Before anyone could reach out to the victim, the man who shot him fled from the spot.
According to police, the call about the incident was received on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday at around 2.26 am.
The taxi driver is a native of Himachal Pradesh and is said to be stable.
