Bomb threat to South Delhi school receives turn out a hoax

The Amity International School in South Delhi’s Pushp Vihar received a bomb threat through e-mail during the wee hours of Monday turned out to be a hoax, the police said.

Responding to the threat mail, a thorough search operation was conducted by the Delhi Police while a bomb detection team and special units carried a complete scanning of the school premises, but nothing suspicious was found, a police official said.

According to the police official, “An email was received on Monday morning at around 3.10 am by the Amity International School, Pushp Vihar with a bomb threat.”

Ten days ago, on February 2, a similar incident was reported where the Delhi Public School (DPS) in Delhi’s RK Puram had received a similar hoax bomb threat through an e- mail.

Students were evacuated from the school as a precautionary measure before the bomb disposal team launched a search operation while sniffer dogs were also present to help the police with the proceedings. A thorough search operation was launched on the premises, including the adjoining hostel block. However, nothing suspicious was found, the police had confirmed.

According to DCP South West Rohit Meena, the origin of the email is being tracked and further legal action will be taken accordingly in the matter, the police official said.
