A 56-years-old woman was reportedly found murdered at her North West Delhi flat. Her body was recovered from the flat locked from outside.

On information about the incident on Tuesday night, a police team of Shalimar Bagh Police Station reached at the spot and after inspection shifted the body to the mortuary of a nearby hospital. The deceased has been identified as Rajni Madan, a resident of East Shalimar Bagh.

According to the police, no external injury was found on her body during the initial examination. Post-mortem (PM) on the body was conducted in the hospital and police are waiting for the PM report.

A case of murder has been registered at the police station and investigation has been taken up.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West Delhi), Usha Rangnani said that a PCR call was received at Shalimar Bagh Police Station on December 13, at around 10pm. The caller informed that his flat was locked from outside and his mother’s phone was switched off.

Immediately, a police team reached at the spot and found that complainant Chetan Madan (25) had broken the lock of his flat, with the help of neighbours and found her mother Rajni Madan dead inside the house.

On inquiry, the complainant stated that he went to his office in the morning and when he returned at around 10pm, he found his flat locked from outside.

He broke open the door with the help of neighbours only to find his mother lying dead inside.

On the statement of the son of the deceased, a case of murder was registered by the police and investigation was taken up.

The DCP said that different teams have been formed to analyse the CCTV footage and trace the accused person at the earliest. The preliminary investigation suggests that the entry of the accused into the flat was friendly.

Further probe is being carried out.
